While the wazaif are the emanations of God’s qualities, the Zikr points to the One essential all-inclusive reality that is both transcendent and immanent. Long periods of recitation of Zikr in different forms and with different accompanying concentrations, such as on different divine Messengers, constitute a central theme of this course. The writings of Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel Lewis as they relate to this stage of practice are also studied.
This program of study is intended to follow the Wazifah Studies series. Zikr and Concentration consists of a total of nine meetings, divided into two series. As originally presented, the two series were separated by a summer break. Lessons are drawn from the Githas and Sangathas of Hazrat Inayat Khan and writings of Murshid Samuel Lewis. The class includes group and individual practices, readings, and other assignments. Wali Ali presented these teachings to this monthly gathering of mureeds with a heart full of love and inspiration.
These classes are offered to those who wish to commit themselves to a program of study and practice. All mureeds of the Inayati lineages are invited to participate. Please seek permission from your guide to take on the practices and program that will be presented.
