News of the Ruhaniat, Spring 2015: Dargah project update and more !
Read a message from Murshid Wali Ali and request for support and prayers. With a timeline of several years in the future, a dedicated team is supporting the author in creating a complete biography of this remarkable being. "I wholeheartedly invite you to generously donate to the funding of the Murshid SAM Biography Project. Any size donation is appreciated, and if it is $200 or more we will send you, as a gift, a personally signed book when the first hardcover edition comes out. Thank you for your inner and outer support. Love and Blessings, Wali Ali Meyer"
Another fascinating historic video has recently come our way, taken at the 1972 Chamonix Sufi camp led by Pir Vilayat, with mostly French narrative. See and hear Allaudin Mathieu and the original Sufi Choir (starts at the 16 minute mark) and many familiar faces from our Ruhaniat family (just subtract 43 years!)
Report and photos from the 2015 Jamiat Aam, the open Gathering of the Ruhaniat:
Al Jami is to gather, to bring together, weaving the community into wholeness. The annual Jamiat Aam of the Sufi Ruhaniat International was held in April in Columbus, Ohio USA. See notes and photos from this gathering here.
For Jamiat Khas members, information and registration for next November's JK retreat may be found in the private JK section of this web site, or on the JK email list.
New Ruhaniat-UK web site: events in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland
Murshid Saadi writes, we now have a UK Ruhaniat website with a schedule of events and recordings from past retreats to listen online or download. It can be found at: www.ruhaniat.org.uk. The new site is lovingly curated by Sufi brother and webmaster Chris Granger -- alhamdulillah!
The Hope Project, India: a new report
Here is a current report from Richard Cuadra, a long-time Ruhaniat member and currently the Hope Project Board President. This project, which we join with other Sufis in supporting, provides community health services, child care, educational programs, a thrift and credit program, and a women’s micro-enterprise unit in India, where it was inspired as a response to the poverty and other hardships in the community surrounding the shrine of Hazrat Inayat Khan. Donations in the US are through the Children's Ashram Fund and are tax-deductible.
"We, as a group of spiritual friends, abide in unity because we are organized into what we call the Sufi Ruhaniat International. Whenever I hear this name my heart warms and the very sound reminds me of our connection. The word ‘organization’ has an impersonal feel, but when I realize that I am supporting my Sangha, then extending a hand is no different than feeding myself."
